A Phoenix in the Sunrise
Phoenix Television viewers will now experience a breathtaking weather show, broadcast live from Phoenix’s new state-of-the-art studios in Taipo, Hong Kong. This new show is produced using Weatherscape XT, Metra’s world-class television weather graphics system.
Phoenix recognised that, while it was presenting tens of millions of viewers with new studios and sets, its existing weather services needed a makeover. The considerable enhancement to its weather offerings provided by Metra’s Weatherscape XT has allowed Phoenix to offer its sponsors a range of new advertising options.

Metra and Al Aan TV worked closely together to produce a bespoke design and feel, relevant to the weather conditions in the Middle East, including sandstorms, fog hollows, dust storms and shamal winds. Metra’s Dubai office also provides a 24 hour weather service, using international weather information and tailoring this to localized weather conditions.
Weather Observations for the Energy Industry – Collaborative Trial
In a unique collaborative project, five of the UK’s largest energy companies, three of the UK’s largest private weather companies and a specialist weather consultancy have joined forces to review the way that weather observations are provided to the UK energy industry.
In recognition of the vital importance that weather observations have to all aspects of the energy industry, Scottish and Southern Energy, Centrica Energy, E.ON UK, EDF Energy and National Grid, have commissioned an innovative study into the optionsfor the future provision of consistent long term data of weat her observations, which will lead to improved forecasts to the energy industry.
NZ Weather Company Metra Takes Stake in the UK Weather Forecasting Market

Metra Information Ltd, the commercial and international subsidiary of New Zealand’s public weather forecaster, MetService, has taken a 50% stake in a private UK forecasting company Weather Commerce with a view to a complete buy-out in three years.
This is the first time Metra has taken an equity position in a foreign forecaster although, it has a number of high profile customers in the UK, Europe, North America and the Middle East.
